Without question the chemistry between the two was perfect and second to none, they had the right blend of ingredients, to bring joy and laughter to peoples homes. Only if they knew what a real impact they had on a Global scale. The greatest comedians of all time, Gods gift to us and now they are gone but I know for sure they bring joy and laughter to all in Heaven.

It's a shame they don't bring back their brilliance on television, as I'm sure the kid's today will love them.

Please contact the BBC and ask them to put L&H back on. Surely they can do it!!! They need to get about 20000 people to ask before they will do it. Contact BBC through their website.........

Google "Kickstarter Laurel and Hardy" and you will see info about an updated version of Randy Skretvedt's "Laurel & Hardy: The Magic Behind The Movies". A huge undertaking that will produce a gigantic new version of his fine book. I just thought every Stan & Ollie fan should know. Thank you.

Dear All,

Can anyone help me to remember which film was it:

Stanley and Oliver are taking a lunch break sitting on the sidewalk. Stanley takes out an egg, sprinkles salt on it - then proceeds to peal the egg.

Also, Oliver asks Stanley to hold out his hand, so Oliver can hit it with a stick. However, Oliver hits him over the head instead of the hand. Stanley reacts like he had hit his hand...blowing on it to cool the pain.

These two comic genius's were very ahead of their time with their many funny movies. My dad and I shared a very strong bond with each other, as well as Laurel and Hardy. Every Sunday, when he was off from work, it was just the two of us watching Way Out West or Saps at Sea among many others. My father passed away back in September. Despite the fact that he and I both knew he only had a few weeks left to live, we both took that time together and made the best of it. Just like when I was a little girl, I got the honor to sit down with my dad once again and laugh at these movies. No one else in the family liked them, just the two of us. Which in a way, made it even more special.

Dear friends,

I am working at our local Social Development Center, under the Dept. of Social Service and Development. We housed CICL (Child in Coflict with the Law and CAR (Child at Risk), in our free time I tried to show them Laurel and Hardy movies, I heard non stop of laughing by heart, purity in their happiness. I wish that this children would have been influence by this kind of cinematography perhaps their way of life is different, compared to what is now shown in the present.

Thank you very much for reading this message.

Thought you might be interested to know that over 40 of Stan Laurel's letters to his cousin, Nellie Bushby of Ulverston, are being sold at auction by Anderson & Garland, Auctioneers of Newcastle England. The auction is next Wednesday Sept 16th 2015. See more at www.andersonandgarland.co.uk

Rodney Hardcastle (York, England)

In the "Did you know?" section of this website, the author of one article states that Stan Laurel was 75 years old when he died.
Stan Laurel was 74 when he died.
This is a glaring error particularly in a section entitled, "Did you know?"

I love Laurel and Hardy. recently I keep coming across VHS tapes of their that yard sales And the goodwill and I always buy them and watch every one of them... "another fine mess you've gotten us into!" wonder about Oliver Hardy losing so much weight right before he died... if it was cancer. Officially I think it was a stroke that caused him to enter the Pearly Gates. Rest in peace dear gentlemen....

When can we expect a release of Laurel and Hardy on blueray. For Chaplin all archives in the world were searched for the best available and complete material. Sometimes 8 years were spend on a box to present the fans the best. I am looking forward to a complete box. In Europe the last 10 years nothing new appeared.

I adore these two. I use to watch their movies with my grandfather who introduced me to them. I wanted to let anyone who is interested know about an antique round table I found in my grandfathers garage. It is an adorable small round table with pictures of Laurel and Hardy. Think it's set in resin. I'm selling it for $300.00

In the 1960s as a child I used to watch these legends playing child like adults on a black and white T.V and laughed at them and wished the stations screened more. Now as a middle aged man I'm still laughing at them.I have seen people who have had a bad day or aren't feeling too happy and if they see one of Laurel and Hardy's comedies they end up raising a smile.Laurel and Hardy were the true Grand Masters of comedy.

Does anyone know what film featuring Laurel & Hardy where they are cemented into a round bowl by their feet and threatened with being thrown into the dockyard by gangsters who think Laurel & Hardy know where the missing money is that belongs to them.

Terry,
The feature in which gangsters cement L&H's feet into a round bowl was Our Relations (1936).

always wondered about a scene from Swiss Miss.
Stan says: I see a monkey.
Oliver replies, not knowing there is really a monkey behind him: That doesn't surprise me a bit!
It sounds so funny, but I just don't get the joke. My English is probably not good enough to understand the (double?) meaning of 'I see a monkey'.
Can anybody help me out?

The Way Out West Tent of California sends you greetings. I like to check your website every once in awhile. Last July we had a great International Convention right in my back yard of Hollywood. It was packed with events including seeing the Hal Roach exhibit in the Hollywood Museum which was quite special to us fans. Further, we had in attendance several of the stars who worked with the boys and Little Rascals. I was scrolling down to read some of the messages on this message board. Billy on January 19th wondered if Lois Laurel were still alive. I am happy to say "yes" and she lives in Southern California. In fact, she was at the previously mentioned convention which made it that much more enjoyable. To the producers of this website...Thanks and keep up the good work. We must do all we can to keep the boys in the spotlight.

"Hello" to who ever reads this.

I would just like to say that I have been a fan of Laurel and Hardy since about 1981, when BBC2 would show them during the 6 week summer holiday, maybe even earlier than that. My Mum and Dad and I would laugh. It felt great to laugh. Thank you Mr Laurel and Mr Hardy for making us laugh. It couldn't have been easy, especially when I see some of the things and stunts they used to do. I still love them so dearly to this day, 2015. My daughter Mary asked me before Christmas if I still liked Laurel and Hardy and I said, "Yes I do" straight away. I haven't seen them for years, since about 2000. I realised I had a book of theirs, a poster, and videos. I must have left them behind when I moved in 2000. I regret that I didn't take them with me. I must have thought I'd go back later to pick them up, but I never did :-( So after Christmas of 2014 I bought a box set of Laurel and Hardy in the style of a suitcase. I have watched in black and white; now I am watching in colour. Stan's eyes are piercing blue in black and white, but not so in colour; he was cute, sweet, very funny, a great singer, and very handsome. Oliver was cute, sweet, very funny, a great singer, and very handsome as well. I am really enjoying watching Laurel and Hardy again and am very proud to have them on DVD.

Have been a fan of Laurel and Hardy since about 1981. When I remember they use to be on all the time on BBC2 in the U.K Have just purchased 10 of their films in a box set that is boxed in a suitcase. It is fantastic to be able to watch them once again and enjoy the laughter again and again again on DVD. Watching the film's I have wondered what the other cast members thought of them? What they thought of each other? I would loved to have seen them live on stage.

I adore Laurel and Hardy. I grew up watching them on TV in the 70'S with my dad. Now I watch them with my 16 year old boy and he loves them too. Just been watching Beau Hunks which I hadn't seen in a long time, its just brilliant. I love the first scene where Ollie is playing the piano and singing and Stan asks him why he is being so "mushy" for!! Stan and Ollie are the best.
